Frequently asked questions
Who can use 5C Exchange?
Currently enrolled students at the Claremont Colleges who can verify a valid Claremont Colleges email address. Accounts are gated behind that .edu verification, so everyone on the marketplace is a fellow student.
Is it free?
Yes. Creating an account, posting listings, and browsing are all free. We don't charge fees or take a commission on exchanges.
How do payments work?
For now, buyers and sellers pay each other directly, in person, when they meet to hand off the item. 5C Exchange doesn't process payments or hold funds. We may add optional in-app payments in the future.
How do I stay safe when meeting someone?
Meet in a public, well-lit campus spot during the day, inspect the item before paying, and pay in person. Our Community & Safety Guidelines cover this in full.
Someone is behaving badly or scamming. What do I do?
Use the report option on the listing or profile, and block the user so they can't message you. Reports are confidential and go to our moderation team. If you feel unsafe or a crime has occurred, contact Campus Safety or call 911 first, then email support@5cexchange.com.
How do I delete my account?
Open the app's settings and choose to delete your account. This removes your profile, listings, and associated personal data from our active systems. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Are there mobile apps?
The web app is available now, and native iOS and Android apps are on the way. Until then, you can use 5C Exchange in any mobile browser.
I found a bug. Where do I report it?
Email support@5cexchange.com with what happened, what you expected, and a screenshot if you have one. It genuinely helps us fix things faster.
